BORUTO - Practice drawing with marker

This is my article about drawing for the first time using marker as shading. I am trying to have a stylized comic style. I bought it from local art supplier. It's quite pricey, about 3USD or IDR30.000. But, this is worthy enough if we could drawing something like this 

Enough about introduction, let's go into the step.

1. Sketch

 

I was using reference from the youtube video, then after watch a few of Boruto, i tried to sketch with pencil. This is enough for do the lineart.

2. Lineart

I was tried to do precise stroke as i do with pencil. I used 0.1 drawing pen.

3. Shading

I use the one-layer with this marker. First, i imagine where the light are come from. Then, the shadow talks with this marker. From the marker, we could decide about which brush we gonna use. This marker provide with two-sided brush, one is pointy and another one is wide. For the shading itself, we must have much feeling about drawing principal. You could learn it from many ways.

4. Finish

Yes. It is finish. Actually, one of my favorite drawing this year.

- Conclusion : I don't have many words now. If you wanna draw like a master, or your influence is about drawing comic, this is really useful for making artworks. I am sure that you all will be happy for using this tool.

" Don't be late " - August 10-sec animation

So this is my final result for the entry. I named it "Don't be late". It is a story about a man came late rescuing a woman in a room that have an active bomb in there (quite abstract and awkward lol).  The description is written over there (so be jumped into youtube if you don't mind). All of the animation aspect created by me, in over a week.

How to make a short animation " Late " (August 2015) work in progress

I create this article for showing how i made this short animation. I want to enter the animation contest in showmetheanimation.com. They are having a monthly contest for those who create 10-seconds animation, with various theme that changed every month. This august theme is "Late". For sure, i want to fill my free time to do something good. Even though, this is adding my portfolio as well. The title of my animation is "Don't be late" .

Step :

1. Story

I made this sketch for imagine how i want to make the camera, character, or else. I know what is gonna be after create a storyline and choosing a character design. This one is rough storyboard that i scanned. This is useful for digital drawing.

2. Draw

I could do a lot of screen shot, but this one is essential. So, i don't need much photo. This time i make a digital lineart using wacom bamboo pen & touch. I like the clean style for the graphic visual. So, i choose this software. I saved a much lot of time too. But, it's up to you how you gonna use the software. For this step, i use many reference from storyboard, book , or internet to create the visual that fit in this story. Don't forget to make a list that all needed for your animation.

3. Paint and Animating

I make this one really simple, the paint with one layer shadow. Other purpose is i want to make sure how the animation and story really good. I am placing paint layer below the lineart. After that, i make another layer for the shading, and then i make this good lol. It is just that simple.

For the animation, i arranged to create a sequence one by one randomly. Then, i set the perfect motion and time for each sequence. In this progress i couldn't say much, because this is about feeling how to animate something, for example : the shaking hand, ticking clock, or else. That is how you need to learn more at school, don't you? After this, let's read another step below.

4. Compositing (Sequence, music, etc)

Last night i create this composition and i could say that i am happy enough to see the result. This step is about adding all the sequence into one big sequence, and set the short sequence one by one. After that, add the music and sound effect that fit for the animation. After that, you could render this for the final result in video.

Drawing of July 2015

This is another monthly sketch i did. Maybe next month i will try some new kind artwork, digital art especially, and another kind of illustration that will be reflect my visual art style.

1. Merida from Pixar : Brave

I am trying to make some realistic style that combining with the stylized from Pixar feature films, Brave. It is a hard to make something cartoonish, to create a normal form of human drawing. At least my first try is not bad at all.


2. Velociraptor

This is my random sketch that i got after i watched the "Jurassic World" movie. Yes, this one is a cool creature.

3. Hand Lettering : Lebaran Tiba

I made this one for celebration of Eid Mubarak, or i could say "Hari Raya Idul Fitri" in Indonesian. Another word for that is "Lebaran". I imagined the twist-curly shape that converted into my letttering style. Maybe this one will be sold as an art print.

4. Hanamichi Sakuragi from Slam Dunk

My favorite portrait drawing of this month. Really. I made another realistic style that based on Japanese manga style. I will make another next month for sure.

Happy Meal McDonald Minion 2015 Indonesia Region (Hobby Review)

MINIONS !

  

Minions comes with collectibles form that released from Happy Meal McDonald all over world. This is showed up while the movies is aired in theater on 2015. Yes, it is one of such a hype movies that could be watched for all ages. Little about the movie, this time Minions wants to discover a new Master, a villain, of course, and this is a story before they found Gru, the main character in Despicable Me franchise, besides of the Minion itself.

For the asia, it comes with 10 different collectibles, you can see it above. There are Minion Vampire, Guard Minion, Marching Minion Soldier , Martial Arts Minion , Egyptian Hula Minion , Minion Caveman , Groovy Stuart , Lava-shooting Kevin , Guitar-strumming Stuart , and Chatting Bob.

 

This picture above is samples about what the packaging about. They create description about the collectibles with some kind of illustration. It did a good job.

 

 

I just got 4 that i think that it is the best from all series. There is a Guard Minion, Minion Vampire, Marching Minion Soldier, and Guitar Kevin. My favorite is that Guard Minion. It just a way too great and cute. Especially, it could walk. That is great.

For the Marching Minion, you could press the button on their head, and then the minion swing their hand. Minion Vampire has a switch behind them, that would be an access to open their mouth and showing their sharp - vampire - tooth. Last, this Kevin with the Guitar would sing a part of song with the Minion Language.

 

You could find it in online store if you still need it, because the McDonald itself didn't has any Minion Event left. So, have fun !
